Q: What is Supported Independent Living (SIL) under NDIS?

A: SIL is an NDIS-funded support where a provider helps you live as independently as possible, usually in a shared or individual home. ThriveWell Care provides SIL support across Melbourne for participants with psychosocial disability and complex needs.

Q: How is SIL different from just renting a house?

A: In SIL, the support (workers and care) is funded separately from the housing itself. ThriveWell Care manages the support side, helping you with daily tasks, personal care, medication, and community access, while you arrange housing separately or through SDA funding.

Q: Can I access SIL if I have a psychosocial disability?

A: Yes. ThriveWell Care specialises in supporting participants with psychosocial disability, mental health conditions, and complex needs in SIL arrangements across Melbourne.

Q: What does a typical day look like in SIL with ThriveWell Care?

A: Support is built around your routine and goals, not the other way around. This might include morning personal care, meal preparation, medication prompts, community outings, and evening check-ins, depending on your plan and needs.

Q: How do I apply for SIL funding in my NDIS plan?

A: SIL funding requires a detailed support needs assessment. Talk to your Support Coordinator or LAC about including SIL in your next plan. Contact us and we can help guide you through what information is needed.
